The closing press conference of the 122nd Canton Fair was held in Guangzhou Canton Fair Exhibition Hall on November 4. During the current Canton Fair, the number of overseas buyers attending the fair increased steadily year on year. Purchasers reported 191,950 people from 213 countries and regions, an increase of 3.36% over the 120th session.
From high to low, the number of purchasers reported in each continent ranged from 106,565 in Asia, accounting for 55.52%; 36,847 in Europe, accounting for 19.20%; 27,861 in America, accounting for 14.51%; 14,381 in Africa, accounting for 7.49%; and 6,296 in Oceania, accounting for 3.28%.
Participants from all continents grew generally. Compared with the same period last year, Asia grew by 1.70%, Europe by 4.21%, America by 6.37%, Africa by 4.48% and Oceania by 12.33%.
In 2016, China's top ten trading partner countries and regions reported the number, accounting for 61.79% of the total reported number. The number of buyers and sellers in the countries and regions along the belt and road has reached 84445, an increase of 3.48% over the same period last year.
The top 20 countries and regions accounted for 60.91% of the total number. The top 10 countries and regions were Hong Kong, the United States, Thailand, India, Korea, Russia, Taiwan, Japan, Malaysia and Australia.
A total of 1086 international chain enterprises attended the conference. In 2017, 104 of the world's top 250 retailers attended the conference, and the top 10 were Wal-Mart, Kroger, Walgreen, Home Depot, Carrefour, Aldi, Tesco and Amazon. A total of eight multinational companies from six countries participated in cross-mining services, including Oushang Group of France, KESKO Group of Finland, Taurus Group of Spain, Staples Corporation of the United States, Central Purchasing Company of the United States, Natural Brand Company of the United States, Changyou Group of Indonesia, and Lekebuckle Corporation of Korea.
There were 50,036 old purchasers who attended more than 10 meetings, an increase of 2.46% over the same period of last year, and 36,597 who attended more than 15 meetings, an increase of 4.22% over the same period of last year.
Among the buyers attending the conference, 38.96% were electronics and household appliances, 31.03% were consumer goods, 28.54% were home decorations, 27.15% were gifts, and 25.23% were textiles and garments.
The export of "one belt and one road" along the border has reached 9 billion 370 million US dollars, an increase of 13.6%, accounting for 31.1% of the total turnover.
The proportion of short and medium orders is still high, while the proportion of long orders is still low. Short orders within three months accounted for 43.5%, medium orders within three to six months accounted for 36.9%, and long orders over six months accounted for 19.6%.
The Canton Fair has earnestly implemented the central government's strategic plan for poverty alleviation and poverty alleviation, and has set up a new exhibition area for special products in poverty-stricken areas. A total of 179 enterprises from 21 trading groups have participated in the exhibition. Through participating in the Canton Fair, exhibitors have met a large number of effective customers, obtained export orders and opened up overseas markets. More importantly, we have a thorough understanding of the international market demand, which lays a good foundation for further opening up the international market and promoting foreign trade and economic development in poor areas.
